UPDATE The numbers I listed more than likely belong to Capital one, LLC and are not the same as Capital one. When calling Capital One, these calls are then redirected to debt collectors under the name of capital one, llc.
Do you really believe everthing here you read on the internet? The Fraud Identify Theft phone number for Capital one is 800-239-7054 that is a true number for Cap One Fraud Dept. I work there.
They seemed to have branched into business letters. I received a letter stating someone may have opened an account in my name and to contact 800-239-7054. I did not call.
My husband received a call from this number asking to call them back about some fraudulent activity. I checked the Capital One site itself and this number is listed under their Fraud Protection department. It is most definitely a legit number.
According to Capital One, this is a REAL phone # to thier fraud department. It took me 3 phone calls & and email to find out, but they did confirm it was one of their phone #s. I will add, however, that the customer service representatives were extremely insistant that i give them my SSN IN FULL & when I was reluctant, they got kind of nasty with me. One would think people that work in a fraud department would understand people giving out their personal info so freely.I am GLAD I don't have a Capital One card & after this experience, I will never have one again!.
