OK guys, I found £4 coming out on my debit card from Avon Insurance and didn't know I checked the internet and found out that Avon is a genuine company. They were selling Personal Accident insurance on the back of a Lloyds Motor policy. When I complained about this Avon explained that this was a free policy for 6 months and then charged at the normal rate of £4. I was not happy with this and asked who I could complain to them or Lloyds.....he passed me through to what I thought was his customer fact it was a very nice man from Lloyds who fully understood and agreed to refund. I had not received any paperwork from Avon in relation to this policy. My own failure to check my own credit card statements is slightly embarrassing but a lesson to all of us. Lloyds tell me that they are not selling this policy now....I can see why. So guys go get your money back...if Avon won't deal go to the originator company of your policy...and make a formal complaint...if that doesn't work go to the Ombudsman...their details are on both avon and your insurers websites

This is stupid. In order to find out who has rung you, you have to provide details of the person your trying to identify!!!!!

This company have called me numerous times from this number and also from various mobile numbers.    The caller said he was calling from Storm which is part of the Carphone Warehouse on behalf of Orange regarding my upgrade.    He did have details of when my upgrade was due (which were correct) and offered me a cheaper deal than going direct to Orange.    I asked him to send details via email as I was busy but I am yet to receive these and am getting several calls from them per day.    Didn't sound like a scam to be honest but after reading these posts I think I will go directly to Orange for my upgrade.

A debt collection compant called EQL if you ask them what EQL stands for they say they cant tell you for Data Protection reasons. Rubbish! If they ask who they are speaking to reply" Im affraid I am not required by law to confirm who I am any contact with the person they are asking for should be made in writing.

They are the same comapny as equidebt and Mackenzie Hall, they just move the paper work around from office to office to scare monger the person they are trying to contact, so what ever you do dont confirm any details with them over the phone, unless you ring them.

They are a real pain

It is British gas loft insulation - they call you the night before they are due to install to    confirm that you are ready and give you a half day slot.

My 11-year-old daughter received a new mobile phone for Christmas, but since that time she has been plagued with calls from unknown numbers, including the one above. Obviously, she never answers calls from numbers she doesn't recognise, so after a search on the internet, we traced them all back to Equidebt (who also refer to themselves as EQL when they leave a message). Yesterday afternoon, an automated message was left from EQL asking for a gentleman we'd never heard of and giving a reference number. I emailed a complaint to them and threatened to take legal action. I received a reply today saying that my daughter's mobile number was not on their records. We have the evidence of course! It wouldn't surprise me if she doesn't hear from them again after this.

They called me yesterday and today. Left no message yesterday. I answered today, I asked what he had todo with my orange contract. He said he was there to try and renew/ upgrade the phone / contact and see if I was happy. I said I was with Orange and not Carphone warehouse. He said it was something they were doing on behalf of Orange... But realised they can't be affiliated as I spoke to Orange about my upgrade not being due only a few days before.

Unfortunately, he got my address details then said that there was a computer error and hung up.

Just worried that now they have a phone number and address.

I am getting calls from these and other idiots who are chasing me for debts I don't own. I am innocent but    my name is the same as a debtor. They want me to PROVE my innocence before they will stop ringing.

I will do no such thing. They have no right to my personal information and I will not be bullied into handing it over. They are in breach of OFT guidelines but the OFT is slow to act. They also send letters threatening court action. A more vulnerable person would cave in to their demands but I am fighting back!

I have started a government e-petition to stop this company and other nasties like them from harassing people as a way of making money. Please help by signing it. Just search for "e petition 22973"

They rang me and claimed that they were from carphone warehouse. Got my bank details etc. I rang back after my phone hadn't turned up and it was an American answer phone message. Never got my phone and had to cancel my bank card.
