SCAM! Was told I had won 2 million dollars.

I got a call from this number and almost answered without checking the caller ID first because I was waiting on a call.    I noticed at the last minute that it said Kingston Jamaica so I didn't answer because I don't know anyone there and was worried about international charges.    Anyone legit can always leave a message!

The 876 area code has been linked to a form of telephone fraud known as the "one ring scam". The person perpetuating the scam calls the victim via a robodialer or similar means, sometimes at odd hours of the night, then hangs up when the phone is answered with the hope that they will be curious enough to call the number back. When the victim does this, an automatic $19.95 international call fee is charged to their account, as well as $9.00/min thereafter. Similar scams have been linked to Grenada (area code 473), Antigua (area code 268), the Dominican Republic (area code 809) and the British Virgin Islands (area code 284)

Called and said his name was Frank Miller and that he was calling from Publishers Clearinghouse. Then asked if I remembered registering with Publishers Clearinghouse. He spoke very slowly, almost as if he was mildly retarded, so I said no I had not registered and then asked why he was speaking so weirdly and he hung up. LOL

This jerk called my cell phone and told me I had won a million dollars and a Mercedes.    I asked how he got my cell phone number.    He kept babbling about what I had one.    I told him I was on a national do not call registry and I did not register with Publishers Clearinghouse.     He said "Are you f**king stupid, I just told you that you won."    I then told him "Don't you curse at me and don't ever call my number again" and I hung up.

Call came at 9:45, am, 2/15/14.    Claimed he was with Publisher's Clearing House.    Apparently, his outfit has hacked PCH's database, as he zeroed in on the fact that I like to search using their search engine.    So, claiming he was affiliated with pch, he said I won 2.8 million, and a Mercedes Benz.    I see other complaints note the Mercedes prize.    Pch doesn't offer cars, just cash.    Also, it seems, that might be his "dream car", since this is a recurrent theme.    Also, pch doesn't offer 2.8 million as a prize.    Idiot needs to do more research.    Hell awaits.

Yeah thank you for this post.
As soon as they called me with the bullcrap about winning a sweepstakes and gave me this number
I googled it while I was still on the phone with them.

It was nice to daydream for a minute allowing myself to pretend I won :)

Don't call this number back!! Its a scam claiming you won millions of dollars from Publishers Clearing House. It will charge you international rates. The person will also try to keep you on the line for a long time. I was charged US 5.00 dollars for two minutes!!
