these a$$h-les are relentless in their pursuit of personal details, don't let them win. When they call and ask if you are "Mr.Doe, or Ms Doe" do not confirm your name. First ask "who is calling"? Be assertive, they are calling you, not the other way around. I often say "no, that is not me,i am Mrs.F**# Off"! This usually works. Good Luck Everyone, Remember, stay safe, never confirm a name or give information about a relative or friend. These people are a menace to society!

Definitely the 'Microsoft Error' scam.    Got me to get the event viewer up (run eventvwr).    Then tried to get me to give control over via www.infosis.net.

Yes, they just called me. I knew it was a scam and played along for a while just to see how they operated. They probably have    a tape playing in the background of a call centre so it sounds more authentic. They are quite good at it. After they talk you through finding the infections on your computer they hand you over to the next technician at a higher level who talks you through how to access their technical support, this is where they would have gained control of the computer if I had continued. I had them on the line and wanted to trap them but did not know how to do it. The call is from Morocco and their foreign ministry should investigate these calls and arrest them. But the Moroccan foreign ministry being run by Moroccans probably are not bothered that this is giving them a bad name as most of them are corrupt anyway.

Some bloke trying to act smart "We are calling because your Windows...".

Uhm, ok. First of - I don't run windows, I run Linux, second of all, Microsoft do NOT make phonecalls.

So I asked, "Ok, what's your name?" He didn't answer..
Next question, "What's my name??" He didn't answer..
Third question, "If you are calling someone who works for the police, and can trace you, would you still try and do the same phone call?"

He hung up.

Got a call from this number an man with an Eastern European accent I think, saying that he was calling from my 'broadband    provider' . I asked him what company are you calling from, he said virgin media, I told him I'm not with virgin and challenged him asking who he is and he hung up.
Interpol needs to catch and beat these bastards!!!
